Spring Wedding at Delille Cellars

We had the pleasure of creating the flowers for Daisy and Johnny's beautiful wedding at Delille Cellars in May. May, especially late May, is an incredible time for flowers- blooming branches, local peonies, ranunculus..... the list goes on and on. Pretty much every flower on this couple's dream list was blooming for this wedding, which made us really happy because it made them really happy!

Thank you so much Anna Peters for these incredible photographs. Stunning, as always.

This wedding was recently featured on Style Me Pretty, you can see the full feature here. What a sweet couple and a beautiful day- congrats Daisy and Johnny!

Fall Workshops Announced!

GROW / HARVEST / DESIGN: THE LATE SUMMER GARDEN
September 24th, 2017
10am-5pm

Late summer is the season of abundance. Our Cutting Garden beds are spilling over into the garden’s pathways, as the flowers give their final push for the year before taking a long winter’s nap. Join Kelly Sullivan, owner and creative director of Botanique, for a day spent in the garden and the studio. We will spend the first part of the day in Botanique’s Cutting Garden, where Kelly will share insights into how to plan and care for flowers in the late summer garden. Participants will then be set loose in the garden with clippers and a bucket, and invited to cut flowers to use in their own arrangements.

After lunch, we will head into the studio, where Kelly will guide attendees in creating a gorgeous, seasonal arrangement in Botanique’s lush, natural, signature style, incorporating the flowers harvested earlier in the day. Participants will have ample time to create their own beautiful piece.

The last part of the day will be spent styling and photographing student work for portfolio and personal use, with one of Botanique’s preferred photographers.

Investment: $525 includes all materials, lunch, snacks and professional photography of your work.

This workshop is limited to seven students, and requires five students to run. Workshop is open to all levels.
THANKSGIVING CENTERPIECE + TABLE STYLING
November 21st, 2017
5:00-7:30pm

The holiday season is coming! Time to spruce up (or learn) some skills for designing and decorating your holiday table. Join Kelly Sullivan of Botanique for an evening in the studio, learning how to create a beautiful centerpiece and style a table. Kelly will share her approach to floral design, and each participant will create a beautiful centerpiece using seasonally-appropriate flowers. Following the design portion of the workshop, Kelly will demonstrate how to set and style a table using flowers and other design elements. Students will leave with a beautiful centerpiece to be enjoyed on their own Thanksgiving table, and the knowledge of how to style their flowers and other tabletop details to create a beautiful and cohesive look.

Investment: $275 includes all materials and light refreshments.

This workshop is limited to seven students, and requires five students to run. Workshop is open to all levels.
You can sign up for either workshop at this link: http://botanique.bigcartel.com
Hope to see you there!

Busy Hands- The Winter Flowers Workshop

We had a wonderful group in the studio for our Winter Flowers Workshop back in January! Focused on sustainable design principals using flowers that are locally available in the winter, each attendee made a gorgeous arrangement. The whole workshop was photographed by Sarah Carpenter, who did an amazing job. I really love how Sarah captured so many hands in action. Watching a person's hands as they create an arrangement is extremely beautiful. I have been fairly obsessed with the parallels between movement and floral design recently, and hands that are actively arranging are a direct crossover. Thank you so much Sarah for capturing so much of this movement in your images!

We are currently planning a couple of workshops for this fall and winter. If you would like to be added to our workshops list, please send an email to kelly@botaniqueflowers.com.

Elise and Alex in Pioneer Square

Gorgeous couple, gorgeous setting, gorgeous day... Elise and Alex had a such a beautiful wedding! It was one of those perfect Seattle summer days (sunny, but not too hot) and they wed under a canopy of trees in Pioneer Square. So picturesque! Their reception followed at AXIS, where we decked the walls floor to ceiling in vines. It was romantic and magical!

Lora Grady captured everything perfectly, as you will see in the following images.

Congrats Elise and Alex!
When your clients make these faces upon walking into their reception and seeing all the flowers and decor for the first time...  you know you have done something right! Thank you Elise and Alex for trusting us with your vision.

Movement Study Workshop

MOVEMENT STUDY

April 23rd, 2017
10am-1pm

Movement. It is what makes an arrangement come to life.

How does the eye travel through an arrangement? How do you create layers and lines that read as intentional, unexpected and beautiful, but not chaotic? How do you draw the eye to a particularly gorgeous bloom or focal point?

Over the course of this three-hour workshop, we will address these questions and more. Participants will have ample time to create an arrangement applying the design principals discussed, and lots of personal attention and guidance from Kelly Sullivan, Botanique's owner and lead designer.

Prior to becoming a floral designer, Kelly had a 10+ year career as a modern dancer and choreographer. She has an intuitive understanding of movement, line, and gesture, which she brings to her work, and which informs every arrangement she creates. In this workshop, she will share her approach to creating designs rich in movement and interest.

To insure enough time for lots of individual attention, this workshop is limited to seven participants.

Investment: $300 includes all materials, light refreshments, and professional, film scans of your work by Anna Peters Photography.

Rose and Grant's Magical, Whimsical Wedding

Magical, enchanted, whimsical, midsummer nights dream... these were the words and ideas that inspired the flowers and ambiance for Rose and Grant's wedding. The color palette we landed on- warm, rusty reds, gold, and green, with accents of bright white- was at first a bit daunting to me as it is pretty much the opposite of the current trend towards blended and muted palettes. But I loved the challenge, and getting to work with such a unique color palette... and their flowers came together beautifully!

Rose's bouquet was filled with special flowers from our Cutting Garden- 'Hot Cocoa' and 'Golden Celebration' garden roses, love in puff vine, tiny nicotiana... plus some seriously amazing dahlias. Their wedding arch was a favorite too, laden with smilax vine, hydrangea, garden roses and tiny zinnias in perfect shades of red and gold. Walking into their reception tent was truly magical- vines dripping from the chandeliers and climbing up the tent poles, abundant and lush centerpieces in gold compotes, magical table numbers made with Flora Forager's gorgeous prints, gold chargers and flatware... not to mention their amazing sweetheart table... enchanted and dreamy were definitely accomplished!

Rose and Grant really trusted us with all the floral details, which always yields the best results. Jacky Grotle did an amazing job planning the wedding, which made it easy for us to come in and work our magic.
