Winter Flowers Workshop Announced!

Winter Flowers Workshop
January 15th, 2017
1-3:30pm at the Botanique Studio

It's winter. Unexpected as it may seem, this is a very exciting time of year for flowers! Bare trees make way for unique, textural berries and branches, fragrance abounds in early spring bulbs like hyacinth and heirloom narcissus, and there are a bevy of local, greenhouse-grown roses- the perfect antidote to winter blues! Join Kelly Sullivan of Botanique for an afternoon of floral arranging in our intimate, South Seattle studio, where you will learn how to create a beautiful, layered arrangement full of movement and texture. Participants will take home their completed arrangement.

Workshop is open to all levels, and is limited to six participants.

Investment: $275 includes all materials, professional photographs of your arrangement, and light refreshments.

Registration is live at: http://botanique.bigcartel.com

Tawni and Blake at Sodo Park

Tawni and Blake- such a cute and stylish couple. We loved creating the flowers for their wedding at Sodo Park last September. Autumn offered the perfect floral palette for the boho chic vibe they wanted, as we were able to use tons of different textures and foliage elements. Their ceremony backdrop was particularly stunning. We worked together to design this piece- a rustic, wooden frame filled with strands of neutral-toned yarn, adorned with lots of green foliage. It was beautiful! As always, it was a pleasure to work with Bridget from Perfectly Posh Events, who coordinated their day. All photos by the incredible Andria Lindquist.

Jane and Jonathan and The Admiral's House

Jane and Jonathan- you couldn't find a sweeter, more gracious couple. Here is a very belated view of their beautiful wedding at The Admiral's House, from August 2015 (the blog train is moving a bit slower now that we have a baby on board!). To lend a feeling of timeless elegance, we went with a classic color palette of layered greens and white for the ceremony, but added peach and pink tones into the palette for the reception to warm it up and give it a fun kick! It was a gorgeous day, and these photos from Belathee capture it perfectly. Enjoy!

Jael and Gilbert's Backyard Reception

In August, we had the pleasure of designing flowers for Jael and Gilbert's wedding reception. After making a bouquet and boutonniere for their official, courthouse wedding in May, it was so fun to work with them again in a different season and setting! I loved the laid-back yet elegant vibe of their backyard wedding reception. And they have some seriously cute dogs! Their wedding was recently featured on Intimate Weddings.

Congrats Jael and Gilbert!

Cafe au Lait Workshop Recap

In October, we hosted a workshop that was all about Cafe au Lait dahlias, the absolute queen of late summer and early fall arrangements. We started in the Cutting Garden talking about growing and harvesting tips, then moved into the studio for lots of time arranging with these beauties.

Jess Hunter was there to photograph all the magic, and as usual, she blew me away with her images.

Here's the cafe patch in the garden, blooming like crazy!

And the group out in the garden learning about growing these beauties:

And the group inside, starting to learn about arranging with cafes:

I start all of our workshops by demonstrating techniques for arranging, then set everyone loose to create their own work of floral art. During this time, I float around the room answering questions, helping everyone with their arrangements, and making sure everyone is getting what they need from the experience. Keeping the workshops to a six person maximum ensures there is a lot of time for this personal attention, which I think is so crucial to learning.

It was amazing to see everyone's arrangements come together! They were all so beautiful, unique, and artful...

It was such a wonderful day!

I'll be announcing our spring workshops in the next few weeks- if you're interested in attending, send me an email (kelly@botaniqueflowers.com) and I'll put you on our workshops list!

Hope to meet you soon!
